In the noise of today’s society the voices of the last witnesses from World War II are drowned out. We want to record Japanese and Polish-Jewish witnesses before they are gone forever. Their memories tell us the incredible story of Chiune Sugihara and his saving of 6000 refugees in the Lithuanian town of Kaunas in the summer of 1940.
A chorus of voices appears in a ficticious talk across time and borders. Chiune Sugihara himself comments on his decision. Chieko Yamada, Koutarou Yamamoto and Osamu Inoue are vividly remembering the refugees passing through their hometown Tsuruga. And the Polish Jew Josef Orgler is telling us about his journey from Kaunas via Vladivostok and Tsuruga to Kobe.
