Abstract:

Dan Zhang is a Richmond resident. Living in Canada for nearly 20 years, her memories of her youth spent in Inner Mongolia during the Cultural Revolution have never faded. Her longing to go back has become stronger and stronger with the passing of life.

After 30 years, Dan finally returns to Inner Mongolia to visit her friends and the place of her youth. This documentary follows Dan’s trip from Richmond to Beijing, her birth city, and to Inner Mongolia. We discover with her all the changes that have taken place since she left 30 years ago. The Mongolian people of that region no longer live in a yurt. They are now sedentary. Dan’s visit allows us to meet the people of the grassland, their tradition and their new way on life.
