Abstract:

The first episode of the television series, which presents a melancholy new spin on the detective genre, as epitomized in the hard-bitten, cynical characters of classic pulp fiction. The story is set in the emotionally disjointed and dispirited terrain of contemporary Japan. Mike Yokohama is a cycnical and wisecracking private detective, hired by the father of a young woman who has left town for a retreat house where she is on A Journey to Self Discovery. His assignment is to get her out in time for her wedding into a rich and respectable family. Mike enters the retreat, and finds it hard to leave himself. Starring Nagase Masatoshi.
