Abstract:

This is a film showing the games played by children in the Republic of China on Taiwan today. Games and folk usages include firecrackers, fireworks, wooden swords, lion, dances and lanterns played during the Lunar New Year Season; shuttlecock , jump rope, windmill tops and kites flown in a kind of sport; perfume sachets and colorful bags favored by girls; and such mathematical games as" nine connecting links," a puzzle that challenges ingenuity; and "tangram," a large square divided by lines into seven parts which can be used to compose innumerable diagrams and paterns.
