Abstract:

Travel with Jan as she solos over the Himalaya from Nepal to Tibet in the Everest region, on a trade journey over the Nanpa La, the highest trade pass in existence. Sherpas and Tibetans still travel this route to barter and trade, crossing the 20,000 foot pass on foot and with yak caravans. We meet the Sherpas, and learn how they came to live in the Everest region, and what their traditional lifestyle entails. We also explore the changes in their lives since the influx of foreign visitors from around the world, for trekking and climbing. Through this glimpse of the Sherpa's culture we involve each of the 18 national standards for geography." --http://www.janreynolds.com/ The teachers and parents guide for this video involving the 18 national standards can be downloaded at http://www.janreynolds.com/
