Abstract:

Produced by the Japan Society in celebration of its 75th Anniversary, this is the first exhibition of art from Japan's oldest temple. The Horyuji was founded by Prince Shotoku in the year 607, and since then has been a center not only for Buddhist studies, but for the preservation of early sculpture of Japan.
