Abstract:

Examines aspects of modern Chinese industrial life while visiting Taching, where petroleum was discovered, and shipped to refineries near Beijing. We learn of the interdependence of Chinese industry and agriculture and discover what life is like for Chinese factory workers and their families when we visit them on the job and at home. (1978)
