Abstract:

Description: This tape explores the protests and boycotts which mark the explosive battle over labor standards within the Chinese community. Recent Chinese immigrants trying to break into the construction industry have been exploited by the last people they'd expected: the Chinese-American agency set up by the city to help meet their needs. DCTV student producers document the long struggle undertaken by the Chinese Staff and Workers Association to force this agency to comply with fair employment standards. Chinese Vs. Chinese illuminates the labor issues which split the immigrant community into divisive factions.
