Abstract:

"This program is the human perspective of one of the great economic battles of our century. On one hand, U.S. manufacturers threw in the towel long ago and didn't bother to make a competing product, thus causing scores of Americans to be jobless. On the other hand, a New York psychiatrist finds his office filled with Japanese businessmen who are cracking under the pressure from the home office and cultural isolation. We observe a top executive's horror as his honor student daughter comes home with an American hippie boyfriend, and we catch a terrified Japanese boy's first day in a third grade classroom. Co-produced with NHK-the Japanese Public Television system, this story touches all of our hearts as well as our pocketbooks."
