Abstract:

"At the Viet Nam-China border, displaced peasants, missile launchers, and coffin-carrying platoons line the dusty roads. In Cambodia, shocking tales of cannibalism surface. Families wander around looking for their relatives, and children die because medicine is not available. DCTV was the first western TV crew to enter Cambodia after the overthrow of Pol Pot. The international effort to avert famine and the Cambodian people's struggle to rebuild their shattered country are documented. In a follow-up visit, in striking contrast to the earlier desolation, we see Phnom Penh and Ankor Wat come alive again. Beauty parlors and schools open. Food is available, but peace has not yet come. Thousands of Vietnamese troops remain in Cambodia. Pol Pot and his forces are still alive and well armed. As our images show, death and destruction have not left this ravaged land."
