Abstract:

This video not only helps the teacher or group leader, it helps the students too, by focusing their attention on the major points. Before the screening students are given copies of the multiple choice questions that appear on the screen at the end of each sequence. Thus, knowing beforehand what they will be asked, their attention is directed to the screen and are prepared for group participation. From our large library on the world's religions we have extracted sequences on the main ideas in Hinduism and Buddhism. And we have gone further than that - after each sequence there are graphics with multiple answer questions so that the student can immediately discover how much he has learned. The Hartley Film Foundation has taken one small step toward interaction by developing a video cassette that teaches about Hinduism and Buddhism. From our large library on the world's religions we have extracted sequences on the main ideas in Hinduism and Buddhism. And we have gone further than that -- after each sequence there are graphics with multiple answer questions so that the student can innediately discover how much he has learned.
