Abstract:

Description: Professor Tran Van Khe, University of Paris musicologist, discusses ca dao, the traditional voice of the Vietnamese people. His comments are accompanied by scenes of the Vietnamese landscape and of ordinary Vietnamese people singing and making poetry according to traditional melodies. Khe and his daughter, Ngoc Thuy, sing ca dao and play traditional Vietnamese instrumental music on the 16-string zither, the danh tranh, and the one-string viol, the danh co.
