Abstract:

"Excellent puppet animation and a folk story about a lonely giant will touch youngster's hearts and stimulate discussion about friendship. The Red Giant lived in a Japanese village. Though he wished only to have friends, he found that everyone was frightened by his awesome size. The Red Giant was sad and crying when another giant came upon him, and solved his problem---though not without personal sacrifice---and the Red Giant was admired and loved for the rest of his days."
