Abstract:

"NBC News Anchor, Garrick Utley introduces excerpts of an exclusively televised interview in Beijing, China between NBC News Anchor Tom Brokaw and China's State Council Speaker Yuan Mu. The meeting took place shortly after the massacre of student protestors in Tiananmen Square and discusses China's interpretation of the events surrounding the tragic and shocking incident. Republican Senator Richard Lugar of Indiana lends additional commentary and insight on the statements made my Yuan Mu. As the interview was being conducted, it was simultaneously broadcast to the local citizens of China. Reports on their reactions to the interview are provided by journalist Keith Miller in Hong Kong and Arthur Kent in Beijing."
