Abstract:

"Is China America's next big threat - as some critics claim - or can the U.S. and China work together to enhance stability in Asia? China's enormous potential as a market for the world's goods, as well as its unequal trade balance with the West, make is a very serious player on the world stage. However, tensions persist between China and the U.S. over many issues. China's attitude toward human rights and its intentions toward Taiwan remain serious concerns. Should the U.S. have a policy of containment or engagement?"
