Abstract:

In an allegory set in contemporary Cambodia, a young prince is told by his Merlin-like guru that he alone can save his country from the tragedies of the past 20 years. When the prince meets a beautiful young girl, the guru warns both that the marriage is impossible: having sexual relations would break the spell preserving the prince's youth, revealing his true 100-year-old self and causing his immediate death.
