Abstract:

"Through music, effects and words, CHANGING TIDES brings attention to the use of atomic weapons on people in Japan and the Pacific. The work evokes the sounds of struggle and hope in an innovative way. The words of survivors from Hiroshima and of Tahitians, who speak about the testing of nuclear bombs in the Pacific, are reminders about the disregard that is often present in areas where race and nuclearization meet. This program debuted on KPFA Radio to commemorate the WWII bombing of Hiroshima/Nagasaki." Producer/Composer/Saxaphonist: Gina Hotta. Saxophonist: Francis Wong. Drummer: Elliot Humberto Kavee. Percussionist: Moddy Perry.
