"Using old newsreel footage, photos, documents and well know historical facts, MAO, THE REAL MAN plays a game with history in an experiment proving that even the greatest nonsense can be made believable when supported by such 'evidence' - it all depends on context and presentation. The hypothoses explored push the flow of history to the point of absurdity: everything can be re-evaluated, whether the Cold War, the assassination of John F. Kennedy, or the Cultural Revolution. MAO, THE REAL MAN is a wholly fictional film created exclusively with original and authentic archival material. How can it not be true?!"
