Abstract:

"After studying law in England, Gandhi sought his fortune in South Africa; what he found brought him to the spiritual road which he would follow for the rest of his life. Later he returned to his native India and, after World War I, organized a movement of noncooperation with the British colonial government. He remained true to his ideals through wars, famine, civil strife, and the difficulties encountered by India in her struggle for self-government."
