Abstract:

"Designed for use in U.S. and world history classes, this is part one of a three-part curriculum series on U.S.-Japan relations. The central theme of this unit is conflict, conflict management, and resolution. This theme is explored through six episodes in the history of U.S.-Japan relations: first Japanese Embassy to the U.S. (1860); Japanese Immigration to the U.S. (late 19th century to 1924); Pearl Harbor (1941); Hiroshima (1945); Occupation of Japan (1945-1952); and the 50th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor (1991). This curriculum unit contains extensive primary source documents including immigration documents, diary excerpts, letters, telegrams, comic books, and political cartoons." --SPICE Catalog
