Abstract:

“A portrait of the internationally acclaimed Japanese architect who employs Buddhist ideas to bring about a symbiosis of oriental forms and western modernism. His architecture is enriched through a reinterpretation of traditional building types and through the use of flexible forms capable of reconciling occidental and oriental values. By the end of the 1980's, Kurokawa had expanded the range of his concept of symbiosis to the extent that he feels to have established an intercultural architecture. Filmed in Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nara, Osaka, Berlin, Paris, Chicago, and New York.”
