Abstract:

"This film, an indictment of feudalism, is based on a story by Ogai Mori. Zushio, a kidnapped child has grown up under the abuse of Sansho, the bailiff, who bought him as a slave. The boy escapes and returns as the governor of the province to take revenge on his tormentor, reducing the bailiff to penury."
