Abstract:

"Japan was a feudal nation for nearly 700 years. Politically, the country was ruled by a rising class of military men called samurai. This program details the political, cultural, social and economic developments of the Japanese throughout this intense and somewhat isolated period of history, focusing on the first two stages of feudalism, the Kamakura and Ashikaga periods."
